Why Become a SIP Trunking Reseller?

In recent years we’ve seen many changes take place in the telecoms and technology industries. In telecoms we’ve seen a shift take place in business environments from traditional PBX systems to SIP Trunking. These tend to offer a much more affordable telephony solution as it’s not necessary to buy 23 lines at a time (as with traditional systems), just one can be purchased.

SIP Trunking also requires little in the way of capital expenditure and ongoing maintenance. This means that costs can easily and quickly be cut and ROI quickly regained.

The market for SIP Trunking has now matured but it is still seeing strong growth. It’s thought that SIP and VoIP are now “well on their way to eclipsing legacy digital telecommunications.”

According to a report from Frost & Sullivan, the 2014 VoIP and SIP Trunking market earned revenues of $3.22 billion in 2014.

The report further estimated that by 2020, market revenue will reach $10.29 billion.

“The VoIP access and SIP [T]runking market continues its rise as the de-facto communications link from business customers’ premises to service providers’ networks. SIP [T]runking services will also play heavily in the emerging trend of hybrid cloud communications,” said Frost & Sullivan analyst Michael Brandenburg.

This means that for the telecoms or IT support company looking to move into supplying SIP Trunking and VoIP services, there is plenty of scope for sales. Research suggests that in 2015, 58% of companies have switched to SIP Trunking and it will soon surpass T1 lines.

    Benefits to Enterprises

Resellers of VoIP and SIP Trunking can offer a range of benefits to enterprise customers while earning a residual income stream. For the end user, the biggest driver to making the switch to SIP lies in cost-savings. As SIP Trunking requires little in the way of outlay and equipment, these can be immediately realized.

However, SIP offers further benefits, such as:

    • Ability to carry both voice and data
    • Flexibility and scalability
    • Facilitation of further, additional services such as unified communications
    • Virtual presence anywhere in the world
    • Low cost calls both on a local and international basis

    Benefits to Resellers

For resellers, SIP Trunk providers offer a means to create further income streams and to augment the services that are currently on offer. For example, an IT support company selling managed services could easily add SIP Trunking to its product portfolio in order to offer customers a full IT and telecoms service.

As SIP Trunking is quick to deploy, there’s little required from the reseller in terms of outlay. SIP Trunking requires no additional hardware and simply requires the reseller to configure the existing IP-PBX to the supplier’s parameters. This means that resellers can quickly and easily boost revenues without the need to take on additional IT staff.

The result is that the reseller improves revenues and their product range while still having the time to carry out the important task of running a business.
