What kind of range can I expect between the XJ100 and the network access point?
Range is very dependent on the access point antenna, interference in the 2.4GHz frequency, line of sight and other factors. Generally, the XJ100 will operate within the same ranges and locations as a Wi-Fi laptop. Indoors, with a clear line of sight, this is typically 30+ meters. Outdoors, with a clear line of sight, range is typically 100+ meters. Under ideal conditions with commercial access points and high-gain antennas, we have dialed and received calls at ranges in excess of 5 km. Please note that Wi-Fi signals will not typically penetrate metal and exterior walls.

Service Provider FAQ

How do I secure the XJ100 to my network?
Many service providers secure the XJ100 to their network based on the MAC address of the device. Services providers can implement additional security by providing limited IP and port access to XJ100 MAC addresses. In this way, MAC spoofing intruders would not gain access to general Web services. The XJ100 also supports WEP key encryption.
