The VoiceLinesm Solution

VoiceLine is broadband phone service that uses Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling to establish and manage voice calls on all types of high-speed data networks. VoiceLine enables high-speed data providers to offer their subscribers residential broadband telephony solutions. VoiceLine is a centrally managed and hosted solution that provides local, long distance and international calling. VoiceLine enables integration of back office systems, including the billing platform, into the operator’s infrastructure.

The benefits of a centralized VoIP service for cable operators include: minimized capital investment, quick time to market, limited voice expertise required, and the ability to integrate operational data into internal MSO processes.

The VoiceLine solution is comprised of three components:

Planning and Deployment Services

Net2Phone customizes the VoiceLine service offering for each operator to:

  • Leverage the operator’s current systems and processes
  • Design an optimal VoIP architecture
  • Project traffic volume and capacity requirements
  • Develop and document business processes
  • Provide training and support during launch and on an ongoing basis.

Switching and Service Assurance Platform

The switching and service assurance platform provides the infrastructure required to support VoIP telephony.

Within the Net2Phone infrastructure, media gateways, media controllers, media proxies and the Net2Phone IP network accomplish many of the same tasks performed by legacy, circuit-switched networks to process and deliver telephone calls and calling features. High-speed data subscribers connect to this network via the MSO’s IP network using a customized VoiceLine telephone adapter.

Operators may configure their Internet routing elements to “prioritize” voice services above data services in order to assure call quality and avoid bandwidth constraints.

Telecommunications Administration

Depending on an operator’s needs, Net2Phone will order, provide and administer circuits for each phone line, and establish agreements with both local and long distance telecommunications providers to terminate calls. Net2Phone also acquires and manages a database of telephone numbers to assign to telephony subscribers. Telephone numbers can be local to the operator's footprint or nationwide. E911 service, Local Number Portability, Operator and Directory Services are also available.

With VoiceLine, provisioning is accomplished online via the Net2Phone Partner Resource Center (PRC) portal. It provides the functionality to establish and manage telephony accounts, provision new phone numbers and port a subscriber’s existing phone number. Additionally, a self-branded website is provided for telephony subscribers to access call logs, retrieve voicemail messages and manage calling features.
